Spring is almost here! This year, the Vernal Equinox is expected to take place on either March 20th or 21st. Here’s a list of all the events and activities that are coming to Port Moody and Coquitlam in the next few weeks.
The Festival du Bois | March 22nd – March 23rd
Enjoy a weekend celebration of French-Canadian culture! There will be live entertainment, food, concerts and more. The Festival du Bois is the largest celebration of it’s kind in B.C.! To purchase tickets, visit their website. or purchase your ticket on site!
Spring Break Movies | March 22, March 27th, March 29th
Free family movies at Inlet Theatre! Seating is first come first serve. Movies start at 2:00 p.m. March 22 – Christopher Robin. March 27th – Boss Baby. March 29th – Trolls.
2019 Town Hall Meeting | April 11th
Do you have a questions, ideas or feedback for Coquitlam City Council? They want to hear from you! The meeting will take place at Coquitlam City Hall from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. If you can’t make it, you can watch live from wherever you are, on your laptop!
Thirteenth Annual Hyde Creek Watershed Society Open House and Fish Release | April 13th
You can help the Hyde Creek Watershed Society members release thousands of salmon into Hyde Creek. Members have spent 18 months raising coho from eggs through to fry and smolt stages and these coho are now ready to travel to the ocean. Carry a bucket of salmon from the hatchery to the creek where you will release them and send them on their journey to the ocean! Exhibits and crafts are part of the day, along with a fund raising hot dog BBQ. Parking is available at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre on Laurier Avenue. It’s a short walk west along the Trail to the Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery.
Fingerling Festival | March 5th
Everyone is invited to this long-standing tradition! The Port Moody Ecological Society is hosting it’s 25th Annual festival where volunteers help release 40,000 salmon into Noons Creek! The event is free, and family volunteer groups are encouraged!
Walk For Alzheimers | May 5th
Celebrate and remember people who have been touched by dementia. Walk to raise vital funds and awareness to create change in the Tri Cities and Pitt Meadows communities. This year, the walk is in honour of Arvie Bourgeault, click the link to read her story. Register individually or get your family and friends involved to register as a group!
